EP2 Fred Schebesta – Building Finder.com.au, getting scrappy and going LIVE! ⚡

Fred Schebesta, founder of Finder.com.au, joins us to talk about building MVPs – examples, frameworks and best practices.

Hey there, fellow founders!

Looks like it’s one of those 2-for-1 weeks. You got an essay and a podcast. In this episode, Fred joins me to talk through all things Minimum Viable Product (MVP) – the process of building lean and light for validation purposes.

What a perfect guest, honestly. Fred is your typical scrappy, chaotic, and full-tilt entrepreneur. He’s launched several companies, and dozens of ‘ideas’ – he’s built that perfected and unemotional rapid launch framework. For those of you who don’t know Fred, he built Australia’s largest financial comparison site recently valued at a whopping $680m – which all started with credit card comparisons.

The conversation mostly boiled down to ‘creating and validating your MVP’. This included many stories, frameworks, lessons, and tips. All of which he shares throughout the episode.

🚀 The MVP Blueprint

Fred dropped some wisdom on the art of crafting a proper Minimum Viable Product – that's not just viable but downright irresistible. Imagine your MVP as the heartiest club sandwich – it's got to have those core ingredients that make people crave more. Fred's advice? Make it unique, make it memorable, and make it now.

🔍 Validation Is Key

We dove deep into the sea of validation, fishing out the real catches – unemotional purchases from strangers. That's the ultimate thumbs-up for your MVP. Fred's advice? Look for repeatability and signals amidst the noise. If they're buying and coming back for seconds, you're onto something.

🔄 The Business Loop

Get this – your business should turn like a well-oiled machine. Marketing, engagement, purchase, experience, feedback, referrals – it's a never-ending dance that keeps your startup alive and kicking. Fred's been there, done that, and he's sharing his playbook for creating a cycle that fuels growth.

🎨 Creativity & Self-Care

In the whirlwind of startup life, don't forget the most crucial piece of the puzzle – you. Fred gets real about the importance of nurturing your creativity and well-being. His secret sauce? A dash of exercise and a whole lot of self-care to keep the ideas fresh and the energy high.

🛠️ Tools of the Trade

And for those itching to hit the ground running, Fred's got you covered with a treasure trove of tools and resources to build your MVP, quickly. Leveraging the likes of Webflow, chatGPT, and gig-based marketplaces to turn your vision into reality.
